Help for Adults

Finding a counselor is often challenging.  No doubt you are visiting many websites as you try to find the right counselor for yourself, a family member, or a friend.  I recommend that you talk with at lease three different therapists before choosing who well be a good match for you.

Medical insurance usually covers the cost of treatment for diagnosed mental health problems including: major depression, bi-polar disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and short term but severe difficulties adjusting to a difficult life event.

Whenever you or someone you care about is having difficulty managing daily life tasks, is struggling with severe depression, has any thoughts of suicide, self-harm, or thoughts that "there is no point" in living, it is time to seek immediate help.  Many people struggle with chronic problems (or disorders) such as reoccurring depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or a developmental disorder such as Aspergers syndrome

Couples Counseling

Couples or marriage counseling focuses on feelings, communication strengths and weaknesses, negotiating conflicts, meeting each other's needs in the  areas of affection, kind acts, and verbal support.  Stress can often make once manageable tasks overwhelming.  Problems in particular areas such as parenting, finances, health. work, or relationships with extended family members often precipitate a call to a marriage counselor.

Family Counseing

Family counseling is often the best choice of treatment when there are pervasive daily relationship problems between several  family members.  A mom might complain that she is doing "all" of the work, or a dad my feel uninvolved and left out.  Other times family members are so busy outside of the family, that members no longer feel a sense of cohesiveness and belonging.  Sometimes family counseling involves the adults and on or two children, particularly when the issue is related to a child's problem.
